Why are popular brand clothing so expensive?

brands like american eagle, hollister, abercrombie and fitch and all that stuff costs so much. you can get the same type of clothing with same quality and everything for like 1/20 of the price in countries like india and china. the only difference is that the brand name is imprinted on their clothing. why do kids spend so much money on these clothes?
