Is it legal?

ok I recently went to this rich guys house that has gone on trips to africa and other places and he goes to hunt. Well he says he killed this giraffe, gator and elephant he has struffed in this 3 story house that I went in...I saw these animals and we know they are real but is it really legal to kill animals like these??? I dont think hes telling the truth and I would like to know!
